CNY Photo Competition: Show Us Your Shanghai

The Spring Festival, or Chinese New Year holiday, is all about celebrating community and togetherness. Although the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic means many of us aren’t able to celebrate in person with our family, friends and loved ones, we’ve all become adept at keeping in touch virtually. So, what better way to share your Spring Festival spirit than a photo story competition? 
 
 
The first annual Shanghai Mamas Photo Story Competition will run from February 1 to February 28, 2021. Here’s everything you need to know:Grab your friends and family, a comfortable pair of shoes and start exploring Shanghai. Chinese New Year is a unique time, when the city becomes alive with decorations, traditions and red and gold everywhere. It’s the perfect time to get out and hit the streets with your camera (and/or phone) and show us Shanghai through your eyes. It’s a unique moment in history and we have the privilege to witness it. Let’s tell a story about what it’s like to be in Shanghai right now. 
A photo story is a series of images (between 3-9 photos) with a common theme that together tell a story about your experience. You could share any traditions that you have for celebrating at home, what you see out and about, or some classic Shanghai moments.Of course, we have some rules:

  • Entries will be judged upon creativity, relevance to the theme of Chinese New Year/Spring Festival, originality, and impact.
  • Each entry should contain a minimum of 3 images and a maximum of 9. Captions can be included to tell the story, or the images can speak for themselves.
  • All photos must be original works and taken by the contestants. The photo does not infringe on trademarks, copyrights, moral rights, privacy rights, or intellectual rights (no photos of children without parental consent).
  • Submission of images to Shanghai Mamas grants permission for the images to be published on ShMamas platforms. The images remain the property of the photographer.
  • Entry is free and multiple entries allowed, though no overlapping photos between multiple stories. Open to those living in locations beyond Shanghai.
  • No obscene, violent, racist, defamatory or otherwise inappropriate content deemed as such by the ShMamas Committee will be published
  • Remember to follow all Covid-19 safety protocols regarding large gatherings
  • For the fairness in judging, images should be free of any watermarks, logos, or other name/identifying info
  • Winners will be notified via WeChat and published on the Shanghai Mamas Official WeChat. All entries will be featured in the Shanghai Mamas user account Moments (WeChat ID: ShanghaiMamasOrg). Add the account and follow Moments to see the entries.
  • Entries will be judged by a professional photographer, a graphic artist and a member of the ShMamas Exec Committee
  • Prizes- Shanghai Gift Company, Subconscious Spa Voucher,
  • Submit images via WeChat to: ShanghaiMamasOrg. You will receive a confirmation to know your entry was received.
