Happy New Year everyone!
If volunteering is one of your New Year resolutions, then do consider volunteering to teach English to migrant children with Stepping Stones. They are recruiting volunteers for the Spring Semester program and will conduct training covering the topics of migrant children, migrant education and teaching techniques in February 2018.
A bit of background about Stepping Stones, it’s a non profit volunteering organisation helping migrant and left-behind children in Shanghai and China by providing English lessons at migrant schools and community centers. English is one of the three core subjects in the Chinese school curriculum and it poses the most challenges for migrant and rural children.
Class is once a week (any day from Monday to Sunday) from March to June 2018 and volunteers must be able to commit to at least 8 weeks of teaching. Volunteers are paired to form a teaching team and teach together. Teaching materials and sample lesson plans are provided online for volunteers.
If you enjoy interacting with children, interested in teaching and would like to create a better future for migrant children, do sign up as a volunteer at Stepping Stones website here.
Wishing everyone a great and fulfilling year ahead!
