When we were redesigning this website a few years ago, wechat was but a nascent technology that was just starting to be widely adopted. On our old website, groups were a vital part of the community and it was part of our website that was just as much in use as the forums. We now find this not to be the case. In order to make our site more reflective of our community, and to redistribute our website resources, we will be making a huge change to the groups tab.
This tab will become Wechat Groups and will be for new members to learn about wechat, and existing members to find new groups. Group owners will be encouraged to update their QR codes and/or have a contact person. It will look much like the forums do now, just with another group thread that will be accessible through the main forum, and will be fully searchable.
We would also like to ensure that the same standards of discussion used in the forums here are being adhered to on the chats online. Wechat can get messy! And we are hopeful that group owners feel empowered to raise the bar on the wechat conversation.
If you are a current group member who is storing information or has any details in the groups here, please make yourself a copy. We will be updating this within a few weeks. I’ll give another reminder just prior, but please act soon!
As always, any suggestion or feedback about the website is welcome.
