Last November 8, 2013, the worst storm in the world’s recorded history ravaged more than 2/3 of the Philippines. Super Typhoon Haiyan was like USA’s Hurricane Katrina meets the Asian Tsunami. But experts say Haiyan was 3.5 times more destructive than Hurricane Katrina and much wider in scope.
To put the Super Typhoon’s magnitude in perspective, if Haiyan happened in Europe, it would’ve stretched over London, Paris, Zurich, Prague, Berlin, Brussels, Amsterdam & Edinburgh. Entire cities, towns & islands were wiped out.
My family is safe, my hometown has narrowly and miraculously escaped from the full wrath of the Category 5 cyclone. Unfortunately, the neighboring islands weren’t as blessed. Survivors are struggling to survive. Island after island, there’s no food, water, medicine nor shelter; which led to anarchy in some areas. It’s impossible for current rescue & relief operations to reach all these areas, due to the massive scale of destruction and the islands’ scattered geography.
I appeal to you to reach out by doing any of these ways:
