Shanghai Mamas is pleased to partner with Shanghai Pathways to offer our community a special Chinese New Year Spring Roll & Rice Cake Cooking Workshop for Families on Sunday, January 23, from 10:30am to 12:30pm.
The Chinese Lunar New Year, commonly known as the Spring Festival, has a long history, evolved from ancient times. The story of the Spring Festival dates back to ancient times and is steeped in rich historical and cultural significance. The most popular Chinese New Year treats enjoyed during this time are the Spring Roll, named such because they were originally filled with seasonal spring vegetables, and the Chinese Eight Treasure Rice Cake.
In this fun family-friendly two-hour hands-on cooking workshop, you and your child(ren) can expect to learn the traditional techniques that go into making these two festive dishes. Not only will you create your own rolls and cakes, you will also learn the stories, history and traditions behind the Spring Festival.
