Childcare (daycare,preschool) online survey: improve the quality in Shanghai!

Hi Mamas,

Many international parents are not very happy about the professional international childcare for children from 0-6 years old in Shanghai. If you agree that the daycare, preschool and/or kindergartens do not totally meet your needs yet, here’s a chance to give your opinion. The more response, the bigger the chance that a very experienced and high quality, international organization will setup one or more new childcare locations here in Shanghai.   The survey takes about 10-15 minutes and you can win a Spa treatment at the Puli….. need I say more?!

Nope I did fill in the whole thing and submitted but still no place to enter my email address. Only a page saying

I don’t understand who is behind this survey. To whom am I being expected to donate the bnefit of my time and experience? There needs to be a bit more transparency here. No offense but you are someone who has just joined and is clearly trying to use this group for some ulterior purpose, and not being especially forthcoming about who you are and why we should give you loads of valuable information for free. Who are these supposed “many international parents” who “are not very happy about the professional international childcare”? What is the basis for that statement? Who is this “very experienced and high quality, international organization” you are fronting for, and if they are so experienced and high quality, why are they not funding a proper research study or focus group?

I got this survey forwarded from my Chinese School about two months ago. I remember I also thought it was way to detailed, and found it unprofessional to try to get all this information in such an easy way. Needless to say I didn´t answer it.  This is all the info I got about who is behind it.

I am sorry to hear that you have some questions about transparency and the basis for the survey. I am the initiator of this project. My name is Rutger and I am setting up a new childcare organization here with my business partner. One of the things we did to get started, is takeover a small childcare organization. The reason I prefer not to share brand names, is that I specifically do not want this to be a promotion. I want this to be an opportunity for a larger group of parents to share their objective opinion on childcare, so I can make sure we can fulfill their needs and try to solve some of the problems that international families have here in Shanghai. The past year we have spoken to many parents, mostly through personal contacts. I actually was just able to join Shanghai Mama’s, because my wife is expecting. 12 Weeks today! And doing so, I thought this was a nice opportunity to reach more Mama’s outside of our own network. To learn more and also to help the community, because I believe in ‘consumer innovation’. The parents knows best, what we should offer them!

A follow up of this research will also be one or more focus groups. So if you don’t feel like going through the whole survey, but you do want to give your opinion to help create a new taylormade childcare service, I would very much appreciate help there as well.

And of course, if you do not feel comfortable spending your time on this or you are satisfied with your current situation, I can definitely understand that you leave it as it is.

Well, if you offer daycare at a price way below most international schools / kindergartens, you have your first customer 😉

There are way too many expensive options already.
