This past weekend, Shanghai Mamas partnered with Shanghai Pathways and CCW to offer our families a special Chinese New Year Spring Roll & Rice Cake Cooking Workshop.
The Chinese Lunar New Year, commonly known as the Spring Festival, has a long history, evolved from ancient times. The story of the Spring Festival is steeped in rich historical and cultural significance. The most popular Chinese New Year treats enjoyed during this time are the Spring Roll, named such because they were originally filled with seasonal spring vegetables, and the Chinese Eight Treasure Rice Cake.
In this fun, hands-on cooking workshop, families used the traditional techniques and made their own festive dishes. They also learnt the stories, history and traditions behind the Spring Festival.
