The volunteer-led charity Shanghai Sunrise celebrated its 25th anniversary with a fundraising gala on February 12th at Hyatt on the Bund. As a community partner, Shanghai Mamas helped spread the word on our channels and numerous Shanghai Mamas attended the event as guests. That evening, an impressive 93,000 RMB were raised to give disadvantaged Shanghai students access to education.
Since its inception in 1996, Shanghai Sunrise has provided more than 12,000 educational scholarships helping more than 3,300 students from low-income families complete their education. One of Shanghai Sunrise’s alumni, Rousang Wang, is now an award-winning Chinese opera singer who performed two songs at the anniversary gala.
Shanghai Sunrise was able to put this event together thanks to a generous community of supporters, from event sponsors, raffle and auction prize donors to all the individuals who contributed their time and energy.
Shanghai Sunrise is a non-profit organization creating access to education for underprivileged Shanghai youth.
Established in 1996, Shanghai Sunrise’s scholarship programs have helped more than 3,300 students complete their high school or university education. Graduates are able to realize fulfilling careers and become a positive force in the community.
Shanghai Sunrise partners with corporations, international associations and philanthropic individuals to achieve its mission. Since its inception, RMB 35 million have been raised creating more than 12,000 scholarships.
