A campus purpose-built for holistic education
Wellington College International Shanghai is a fully co-educational day school serving families with children aged 3 to 18. We aim to instill in our pupils the Wellington Identity of being Inspired, Intellectual, Independent, Individual and Inclusive as they learn to embody the Wellington Values of Courage, Respect, Integrity, Kindness and Responsibility. Our campus offers endless opportunities to put our identity and values into practice.
Our two swimming pools, sports hall, running track, football and rugby pitches and the Dome are where Wellingtonians learn the value of sportsmanship, teamwork and physical conditioning. In our professional-grade Wellington College Theatre and our Blackbox Theatre, Wellingtonians of all year groups get to shine. With regular performances in dance, orchestra, drama and musical theatre, they have endless opportunities to take to the stage. In our art and D&T studios and private practice spaces, pupils can tap into their creative potential and hone their creative talents. Moreover, our academic facilities are state-of-the-art with interactive digital whiteboards, VR headsets, digital tablets, a robotics lab and even a miniature planetarium.
This year, we are also excited to introduce our all-new Wellington organic garden. In this lush, beautiful outdoor space, our pupils will have the opportunity to learn all about sustainable food production and horticulture as they plant their own vegetables.
A packed calendar of events and activities
Every year, we organise an exciting slate of events and activities. Our annual United Nations Day and International Food Festival sees pupils and parents from over 45 nations and territories put on a parade and share delicacies from around the world. With our ‘Have to Dance’ showcase, holiday performances, and annual Senior School musical, Wellingtonians of all ages take to the stage and dazzle audiences. And with our new Dual Language Pathway, our younger pupils can study our curriculum in English and Chinese and achieve fluency in both.
A strong parent-teacher partnership
The Friends of Wellington (FoW) is our parent and teacher association and brings the school community together to share, contribute and celebrate. It is integral to College life as it hosts several key events throughout the academic year. The FoW also contributes to the wider community and promotes the Wellington Value of Kindness through annual fundraising and charity activities.
An education that produces outstanding results
Despite the tough obstacles our graduating Class of 2022 faced in their last few months as Wellingtonians, they still made some remarkable achievements. Their average International Baccalaureate examination score was 39.1, well above the global average of 31.9. Six earned a score of 43 or higher, and one pupil even achieved a perfect score of 45. They have already begun their university careers at some of the world’s top-ranked schools, such as Cambridge, Dartmouth, University of the Arts London, Duke and University College London. Well done!
