The Impact of Colours – Part 7: Green


Green is the colour of peace and ecology.

 It’s the colour of heart Chakra.

How the colour green affects us physically: Relaxes mentally, as well as physically, helps alleviate depression, nervousness, and anxiety, offers a sense of renewal, self-control, and harmony.

Green occupies more space in the spectrum visible to the human eye than most colours, and is second only to blue as a favourite colour. The natural greens, from forest to lime, are seen as tranquil and refreshing, with a natural balance of cool and warm (blue and yellow) undertones.

On a “primitive” psychological level, the colour green tells us that we are safe: In a fertile, water-rich environment, above freezing temperatures, there is enough to eat and we will survive. We can relax.

Researchers have also found that green can improve reading ability. Some students may find that laying a transparent sheet of green paper over reading material increases reading speed and comprehension.

– Green is used worldwide to represent safety.

– In Japan, green is regarded as the color of eternal life.

– There is a superstition that sewing with green thread on the eve of a fashion show brings bad luck to the design house.
