Want to connect with other mums in your neighbourhood? Then come and join one of our coffee morning groups!
Shanghai Mamas has been organising coffee mornings around Shanghai as far back as 2010 (or maybe before then, it’s been so long, no one remembers exactly when!). We currently organise these meetups at 5 different locations around the city, so you don’t need to wander aimlessly on your morning pram walk.
Kids of all ages are welcome. Have friends or family visiting you, but still want to join a coffee morning? They are also welcome! As long as they don’t mind all the talk about kids and family life. Enjoy a cup of coffee, tea or juice, with brunch food, and stay for a chat to connect with other mums in your neighbourhood.
Each coffee morning location is organised by a wonderful host, here is a little about each:
Downtown - Anais
Originally from Venezuela, but has lived in Canada, France, and Germany, Anais has called Shanghai home since August 2024. With a background in Linguistics, she has worked as a translator, proofreader and freelancer teaching French, Spanish, and English. Anais loves to travel, explore new places, and spend time with her husband and two boys (1 and 4 years old). She is a content creator and writer for Shanghai Mamas and enjoys sharing her experiences on her social media accounts. Come to chat about cultural differences, travel, children’s psychology, gentle parenting, motherhood, postpartum recovery, nutrition and celebrity gossip.
Downtown coffee meets Wednesdays at RAC BAR (Lane 322, Anfu road).
Hongqiao - Barbara
Barbara recently moved to Shanghai – after experiencing Shenyang (north of China) for over 10 years. Originally she is from Europe: her parents are Czech but her passport is German. With 18 years of HR experience she started a new career in the Fashion industry by running her own kids clothing brand here in China. Having 3 kids, one dog & a husband turns her into an allrounder for all kinds of chats. Try it out and meet awesome ladies on Wednesdays in Hongqiao, as their coffee mornings are never boring…
Hongqiao coffee meets Wednesdays at Pain Chaud (99 Xianxia road).
Jing'an - Naz
Naz comes from Melbourne, Australia and has lived in Shanghai for 10 years and counting. She was a neuroscientist working in Shanghai, but is now a full-time mum to Zoe and dog George (George sometimes comes along for coffee morning). She is currently also an editor and writer for Shanghai Mamas and would love to share stories and mama related interests with you over coffee.
Jing’an coffee meets Thursdays at Alimentari Grill (358 Kangding road).
Jinqiao - Katja
Katja comes from Hamburg, Germany and moved to Shanghai in February 2024. With a background as a teacher, she has worked at both universities and schools. Now Katja is a full-time mother to Jasper (5 years old and baby No. 2 – due in January 2026). With recent arrivals of new moms to Shanghai – Jinqiao, conversation topics include a lot about the arrival of the family, food (deliveries), finding the “right” doctor, cultural differences, travel, kids (school experiences), motherhood … and more, so come and join! It’s always interesting to catch up and exchange!
Jinqiao coffee meets twice a month on Thursdays at FERM coffee (No 30, lane 420, Biyun road).
Lujiazui - Hannah
Originally from the UK, Hannah joined Shanghai Mamas when she moved here in 2013. She’s been involved with Shanghai Mamas in many ways over the years, having previously been a member of the Executive Committee, newsletter and content writer, and behind-the-scenes support staff. Hannah is currently a content editor, host of the Lujiazui coffee morning, and long standing member of the Shanghai Mamas’ book club. Mum of 2, she enjoys a chat about almost anything over coffee, but especially books, travel and food.
Lujiazui coffee meets Fridays at La Parisienne (88 Zhangyang road).
Occasionally we need to move location or change dates/times, so it’s safest to get in the WeChat group loop!
