You’re applying to join the largest online community of international families in Shanghai, as well as one of the most established. Welcome! We’ve been helping bring parents and children together in a safe and supportive environment since 2006, and are proud to have over 5,000 members today.

Our requirements for membership are that at least one parent holds non-Chinese citizenship, or very strong links to the international community. We do not allow business or those seeking employment to join our community, in order to ensure that our forums are a safe and friendly place for members to share and seek out information. Because of this, we screen all applications to protect our members from marketers, spammers, general malcontents, or people seeking only to promote their business. Below is a questionnaire we use to recognize genuine applicants who will both add to and benefit from our community. Please rest assured that your answers will not be published anywhere and we NEVER sell user information.

Member accounts should be personal and individual, not representing businesses, and so your username should not be your business name; and your avatar should not be a business logo.

We check applications every working day (excluding Chinese or international public holidays), and respond to all applications. Once your membership is approved, you will receive a temporary password to enable you to log in to our website, and we recommend that you change when you log into ShanghaiMamas.org for the first time.
